At The Shrubbery School, we offer a wide range of organised extra-curricular activities, clubs and lessons to help our pupils from age 3-11 develop as individuals. We encourage every pupil to try a range of these, which can lead on to life-long hobbies and passions.
The aims of the extra-curricular activities programme is to extend and enrich the work being done during curriculum PE and to provide some pupils with opportunities to enable them to develop the skills they need to access curriculum PE. The programme should also inform any assessment of pupils. The programme will reinforce the importance of keeping physically active in order to lead a healthy lifestyle. An extra-curricular activities programme is provided both before and after school, and at lunchtime allowing all children to access the programmes on offer. Piano
Piano tuition is offered on an extra-curricular basis at lunchtimes (Y2-Y6).
Children are given the opportunity to sit Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music exams and to take part in the annual Tamworth Music Festival each spring and to perform in regular charity events.
Acoustic Guitar Tuition
Guitar tuition is offered on an extra-curricular basis at lunchtime (Y2-Y6). Lessons cover acoustic finger-style guitar, rhythm, timing, standard music notation and an introduction to chords. A tuition book is required to be purchased and children must have access to their own acoustic guitar.
Children are given the opportunity to sit LCM (RGT) Acoustic Graded Exams.
Speech and Drama Lessons
Speech and Drama lessons are offered on an extra-curricular basis at lunchtime (Y1-Y5) and after school (Y6). These classes help to develop a child’s communication skills and to teach them how to speak clearly and expressively. They are ideal for those interested in performing and invaluable to those who are less vocally confident.
Children are given the opportunity to sit LAMDA exams and to take part in a showcase for parents at the end of the year.
The Shrubs Club is our after school care service for children who attend The Shrubbery School.
All play areas are very well supervised and there are various activities and a quieter area where children can do homework or read. We provide cold drinks and biscuits, but children can bring a packed tea if they wish, all containers should be labelled ‘Tea’ and have the child’s name on.
Infants and younger
SESSION 1: 3.45 – 5.00 p.m.
SESSION 2: 5.00 – 5.45 p.m.
Juniors
SESSION 1: 4.00 – 5.00 p.m.

Fees
Sessions £5.00 each session or £7.50 for 2 sessions.
Shrubs Club finishes promptly at 5.45 p.m. There is a surcharge of £10 for every quarter of an hour after 5.45p.m.
Shrubs Club sessions must be booked and paid for in advance via the 'Schoolmoney' website using your login.
You will need to sign your child out and note down the time when collecting your child each day. Please let us know in advance if someone different is collecting your child.
