Safeguarding

The safety and welfare of our pupils is our highest priority. We are fully committed to creating a safe and caring environment in which all children can flourish.

Our safeguarding procedures follow national guidance, ensuring that every member of staff understands their role in protecting pupils and promoting their wellbeing. We take a proactive approach — identifying needs early, responding swiftly to concerns, and working closely with families and external agencies when needed.

Key Principles

  • Safeguarding is everyone’s responsibility.
  • We maintain the attitude that it could happen here
  • We adopt a child-centred approach: we always consider what is in the best interests of the child.
  • We aim to identify needs early and intervene where children may benefit from early help, well before harm occurs.
  • We take all forms of harm seriously — whether emotional, physical, online, or via neglect.
  • Safeguarding extends beyond the school gates: we are alert to risks to children outside school, including in the digital environment.
  • Should concerns arise, we will act swiftly, share information appropriately, and work collaboratively with children’s social care, local safeguarding partners, law enforcement, or other agencies.
  • We maintain a policy of low-level concerns: even concerns that do not meet a threshold for formal allegations are recorded, reviewed, and if necessary escalated.
  • We comply with statutory expectations around safer recruitment, staff training, online filtering and monitoring, cyber security, and alternative provision oversight.
